We are preparing for the 5th edition of “A Sea of ​​Life,” the vertical project by the Progetto Mediterranea ETS Association in collaboration with the Prometeus Foundation dedicated to women who have undergone breast cancer surgery. “A Sea of ​​Life” is part of the social objectives of the Progetto Mediterranea expedition and aims to contribute to the healing process, supporting the recovery of femininity through the exposure of the body with a scar; fostering relationships with the crew and the sharing of emotions (fear, sadness, happiness, tears, etc.); stimulating the perception of the relationship with the disease not only physically but also in the mind, metaphorically throwing it into the sea, letting it sink, while the boat slowly sails on…
The project is not a one-way street, from Progetto Mediterranea to the women, but also obtains feedback on the effects of sailing on the guests on board through a cognitive survey of the degree of psychological and physical “state of well-being” induced by the experience of sailing on the Mediterranea, allowing for necessary calibrations and adjustments.
