During the 6 years of sailing in the Mediterranean, Progetto Mediterranea has carried out a large number of meetings with intellectuals of the Mediterranean region, activists and representatives of civil society, experts of the sea and Mediterranean culture, journalists, musicians and each representative deemed suitable by the expedition to tell the great human and cultural heritage of the Mediterranean.
With the Second Phase of the Project, Mediterranea restarts and returns to the central Mediterranean to navigate much more slowly, with extended times and prolonged stops in the sea and on the territory, in order to deepen research, cultural investigation, speculation of thought, emotional processing.
The Mediterranean is an extraordinary historical, archaeological, landscape, environmental, artistic and cultural heritage and Progetto Mediterranea has been able, in these 6 years, to implement the good practices of sustainable and experiential travel, to build a different way of knowing and meet the world, seeking the involvement of the social sphere of communities and territories, in full respect of human and environmental resources. We worked by laying the foundations for new research plans ranging from the study of language to the perception of the sea and the environment as central elements of our life, from the discovery of new Mediterranean flavors to reading and guided listening. We have therefore created a new travel model to build a new story that will be the story of all those who are participating and will participate in the expedition.
And it is for this reason that at the beginning of this year, working on the 2020 route, in establishing the routes, the meetings, the cultural and scientific study facility and the institutional collaborations, we deemed it appropriate to apply for honorary patronage to the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and for the Tourism. For this reason, patronage has been granted.
