Some images from yesterday’s conference at the Auditorium of the “Federico II Stupor Mundi” Art School in Corato, for the 6th edition of Mediterranean Encounters.

In the morning, a meeting was held between several classes of the school, dedicated to all figurative arts, and contemporary artist, sculptor, and screenwriter Edoardo Tresoldi, currently working in the historic center of Bari—already the emblem of the Mediterranean flag in 2022—until the completion of his monumental work on the archaeological site of the Romanesque church of San Pietro. Many students asked Tresoldi numerous questions, demonstrating his intense preparation for the meeting. The questions were very specific, and in some ways touching, and even moved the artist.

In the afternoon, the Mediterranean Flag was presented to the cities of Altamura and Gravina in Puglia. This moment is always very emotional for us, because we symbolically entrust into the hands of the people who live and govern our flagship city our values ​​of environmental and maritime protection, the dissemination and understanding of Mediterranean culture, philoxenia and openness to the world, and belonging to the Mediterranean, which thus become shared and universal values.

Our contribution to the day continues with a live link with the Mediterraneo crew for a greeting from the Rais group, composed of captains Tomaso Abeltino, Laura Giusti, Peppe Amato, and Nunzia Siragusa, and a crew representative, Regina Rodari, during their stop in Samothrace, an intermediate stop on the voyage to Alexandroupouli, which resumed this morning. This is followed by a talk by Maria Isolina Catanese on culture, landscape, and work in the Mediterranean, topics that connect to the theme of this edition of the Encounters: Mediterranean and Traditions.
