Tbilisi ingMediterranea boat is sailing to know the Mediterranean, the sea and its history. And not only. Mediterranea boat is sailing with the aim to meet the culture of the Mediterranean, and then intellectuals, artists, writers with whom to exchange ideas and points of view. Mediterranea is sailing in search of the “thought of the Mediterranean“.

Program of cultural meetings in Tbilisi 15 to 20 of June, 2015.

In June 2015, during the stop of Mediterranea boat in the port of Batumi in Georgia and the sailing along the coast of Georgia, in the capital Tbilisi, within the country, there will be a series of individual meetings with leading representatives of the cultural and social Georgian. Meetings will be held at the Italian Embassy in Tbilisi and in the museum spaces made available by some of the invited guests.

Here, in detail, some of those who were invited, in cooperation with the Cultural Promotion Office of the Italian Embassy in Tbilisi, and that have already confirmed their presence:

6370 gDavid Lordkipanidze: Archaeologist and anthropologist, he is revolutionizing the evolutionary history of the gender “Homo”. General manager of the museum complex of the Georgian National Museum (GNM), he is author of over 120 publications in major international scientific magazine (from Nature to Science magazine and the Journal of Human Evolution and others) and he is a member of several scientific associations and foundations worldwide.

 

 

maxresdefaultDato Turashvili: Writer of novels and travel books. It is the author of “Jeans Generation” a true story, dramatic and moving, set in Georgia 80’s. Political activist, he was a leader of a student movement for democracy, human rights and freedom, fighting against the soviet regime.

 

imgres-2David Magradze: award-winning poet and writer. Shortlisted nominees for the Nobel Prize for Literature, is considered the spokesman of the soul of Georgia. He is the author of the national anthem and was also Minister of Culture from 1992 to 1995. For several years, he is the guest of honor at the Festival of Poetry in Genoa.

 

 

imgres-1Lasha Bakradze: Philosopher, historian and Germanist. Since 2010 he is director of the Museum of Literature “Giorgi Leonidze”. Professor at the Ilia State University in Tbilisi, after graduating in German literature and linguistics in Tbilisi, he completed his studies in German universities of Jena and Potsdam and Bern in Switzerland.

 

 

SAM 7627Nana Lomia: Linguist and PhD in Philology. Professor at the Italian Cultural Centre of University of Ilia in Tbilisi, is also involved in cultural exchanges and intercultural communication, in collaboration with the “Georgia-Italy” Association.

 

 

 

images-1Lasha Bugadze: novelist, is also an active designer. Many of his texts have been used to make various movies. And he is one of the authors present in the broadcasts of Radio-Television public of Georgia.

 

 

hqdefaultTrio Mandili: Tatia Mgeladze, Shorena Tsiskarauli and Ani Chincharauli make a trio of singers by chance. Their video, in which they sing a traditional georgian song, posted on YouTube last September 2014, went viral in a few days, bringing the three girls to the attention of the world. The Georgian polyphonic singing has very ancient origins,it seems VIII century BC. Since 2011 it is immaterial universal heritage of humanity and is protected by UNESCO.

She has followed the project host made for children refugees from Abkhazia and Samaciablo, war zones on Georgian territory, in collaboration with some Italian humanitarian associations. She is managerof Administration & HR at John Snow, Inc. (USAID project).
